Introducing the Highly Anticipated Apple Watch Ultra 2: Featuring 3D Printed Parts and Revolutionary Technology

Tech

According to recent rumors reported by Medium, Apple is planning to launch the new Apple Watch Ultra 2 this year. However, the microLED version of the Apple Watch Ultra is expected to be released in 2025.

Apple Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has provided some details about the new Apple Watch Ultra. It is said that the device will feature 3D printed parts. Apple is actively adopting 3D printing technology, and it is expected that some of the titanium mechanical parts of the new Apple Watch Ultra, launching in late 2023, will be made using this technology. While these 3D printed parts still require additional processes, such as CNC machining, they can help improve production time and reduce costs.

In terms of the supply chain for producing these mechanical parts through 3D printing, IPG Photonics supplies laser components exclusively, while Farsoon and BLT are the printer suppliers. If everything goes well with shipments, it is anticipated that more Apple products will adopt 3D printing technology in the future. This shift will not only enhance production cost and environmental performance in Apple’s supply chain but also benefit the mentioned suppliers.

The new Apple Watch Ultra 2 is scheduled to launch in September alongside the Apple Watch 9. Additionally, watchOS 10 will be introduced at the same time. Furthermore, there are expectations for the release of the iPhone 15 and iOS 17.
